Oh how fast they grow...
Sunday afternoon nap...Cohen has become just a tad bit needy when it comes to nap time...and by needy maybe I mean spoiled. That used to just mean that he needed held to go to sleep at naptime. And then that grew into wanting to sleep with mommy on the couch. Well, that didn't last long either because the bigger he got, the more he flops around and flings himself too and fro. So, finally, in an attempt for either of us to get a productive Sunday afternoon nap, we have moved to napping in the big bed with mommy. This particular Sunday, I woke up to baby giggling next to me. I roll over and he isn't even awake yet, but something was extreamely funny. He was giggling and smiling in his sleep and it was too too cute so I had to get the camera.
Cohen's first hair cut. His hair was getting so so long. It wasn't so bad in the front or back but it was practically curling over his ears. And the next day was his 9 month pictures so we called up Miss Jodi and went to get his first ever hair cut. All in all, he did pretty well. No tears, no crying, just a small bit of squirming towards the end but as we have learned, he doesn't like to sit still. This first picture is a before picture of his long hair all up in a mohawk. The after picture. As you can see, we found a new cowlick there in the back of his head. Mommy is hoping that it grows out- cowlicks look silly and this one is resistent to gel. It has a mind of it's own.
His cute Halloween pjs. The little feet say BOO too. However, yet again, we almost bought them too soon because they bearly fit by the time Halloween came around. He's just so cute in themed footy pjs.
Teething...need I say more? However, again, the kid does a pretty good job dealing with it. We are up to 5, maybe 5 and 1/2 teeth. He really doesn't throw too big of a fit- he's usually just a little bit grumpy during the day it's cutting and you have no idea what's wrong with him or why he's being to needy and then the next day there is a tooth and you are like "Oh, so that's what was wrong" But, being a (part time) working mother, usually Grandma and Grandpa get to deal with that. We have the front 2 top teeth, the bottom 2 front teeth and the left bottom tooth (stage left). I think bottom stage right tooth might be cutting as well but we will just have to wait and see.
More sleeping. He's just so sweet and precious when he sleeps. And he's getting pretty opinionated about his sleeping too. He used to be able to lay in mommy's arms, finish his bottle and then just fall asleep. But now, he will only allow you to hold him like a baby as long as he is eating and he MUST have his paci in his hand. That way, in a few minutes when HE decides that he is done with his bottle, he can push it away and insert his paci. And that is THE END of being held like a baby. At this point, he must squirm and crawl until he is perfectly in the crook of mommys neck and then nearly promplty falls asleep. My tiny, cooperative baby has been replaced by a squirmy, wiggly toddler with his own mind and ideas. *Sigh*, it goes so fast.
Cohen. See how happy he looks? That's because he's testing me. He knows that he isn't suppose to play with the cord from the blinds. He knows I'm sitting right there. I think I had even already said "No" a time or two. But it's his new favorite thing to test us. He knows exactly what he isn't suppose to be doing. And he'll look at you, crawl or toddle over to the item, check to ensure that you are watching and then mess with it. Then he gives you this innocent look like "What? I'm not doing anything. Look how cute I look!" Grrr.
Cohen has always loved books, but coloring and other tactile events have simply been a waste of time up until now. I actually got him to color some with me the other day and he has started to LOVE his puzzle. I mean, lets be honest, he loves dumping out the pieces. He really needs mommy to put them back in and then he is able to do his favorite thing again- dump them back out. You see, with Cohen, toys aren't put away if they are actually "put away" The rings on the little stacking stick, they have to be un-stacked before we go to bed. The bucket of blocks, it has to be dumped before bed. The Pooh stacking toy- unstacked. The stacking cups- unstacked. The puzzle- dumped. It's true, he's taking after his mommy's type A personality, however, it is the opposite of how mommy works and they are driving each other nuts!
In all honesty, he is so so cute and I cannot believe how fast he is growing. I cannot believe that we are about to celebrate his first birthday! He can't really be one already can he?!?!? He's my little baby! I mean, I know every mother says this, and I have even said it about my nephews, but now that I'm the mom, it's really true. Time flies. Lets just hope I can keep my camera ready, the batteries charged, the files and blogs updated and keep finding time to just play and be his mommy.
Nick and I are still good as well. Both sick, and trying to survive work in the medicated haze that we have been functioning in, but good. We are so excited to start decorating for Christmas. I think the tree and lights are all going up this weekend! We can't wait!

He's adorable!! I can't believe how quickly all these babies are growing up... you just want to tell them to slow down a little bit.
