I can't believe that my big sister beat me to this...

After viewing the wonderful blog of the Arizona Newells this weekend, I decided that a blog really was the best way to keep everyone up to date with Cohen and his mom and dad. It's such an easy way to share his milestones and new pictures. And then, before I can even begin to implement my great new idea, my sister steals it. What can I say, I guess great minds think alike! ;)

So, where are we? Cohen is 10 months old. He is crawling like crazy, walking great with help and even can take a few steps across the room now from one trusty, stationary object to a loving, caring pair of hands that he knows and trusts. Other than that, walking is only acceptable with the double-handed help of a willing walking partner. And, of course, walking is the most fun from 8-9pm when all mommy, daddy, grandma, or whoever just wants to relax and sit on the couch. He's not stubborn, not at all ;) At his 9 month doctor visit, he was the length (when can we start saying height?) of an average 16 month old so he is tall tall tall. This makes footy pajamas a great challenge. He L-O-V-E-S being outside and I have no idea what we are going to do this winter.

He is starting to communicate and talk as much as possible. Most of the time it is just unintelligible grunting but he is definitely making his opinions known. He has a habit of trying to talk while still keeping the paci in his mouth...maybe this is a sign that it is time to be done with the paci... we will see. He can say mama, mom, dada, dad, na na (which either means food, grandma or no, we can't tell-it depends on the situation) ba (bottle) and he loves to yell "ahh" back and forth at mommy and daddy. He clearly understands the word "outside", so much that we already have to spell it when he is around. He also understands daddy's ahhh...bonk! game and loves to play it as much as possible.

We love going on car rides, watching trucks and cars go by Grandma's house, and sitting at the corner and watching all the cars and trucks (and lately even tractors!) come through town. He recognizes and knows each and every one of his 4 grandparents and loves being with all of them. He likes balls and is learning how to throw them well. He enjoys his cartoons and once and awhile will even sit still to read a book. That's a lot of info. Don't expect to get that kind of an update all the time. We are busy people.

Speaking of us, Nick just got done coaching Jr. high football. Tonight was their banquet so the season is "officially" over- yay! We know he loved and enjoyed every minute of it, but we are glad to have him back home with us now too. He was a great coach and I am sure he is counting the days until next season starts. Other than that, he stays pretty busy with his new position at Lowes in flooring and managing all of our rental properties. When you count being a dad, he has 3 full time jobs. I, on the other hand, just cut back. I was offered a part-time position with Youth for Christ which means I get much more time at home with Cohen and MUCH more job satisfaction. It's such a great opportunity and when all was said and done, I wasn't losing anything and I was gaining so much so it was a huge God-thing and an awesome blessing. We are both staying very involved at church, we are in charge of the newsletter, teaching the high school kids Sunday school and I am about to take on the job of the treasurer (with mom's help) and we've even heard rumblings of a youth group so we are staying very busy there as well.
